This dirt-trail distance between streets feels like a secret and I follow it, trying to breathe something pure and forget the freon and carbon and multisyllabic particles that shred your cells and give you cancer. But the trails here are short.

Too soon the trail hits an asphalt capillary, far from the city’s heart but still pumping plenty of metal and noise.
